Delver's Drop was a venture into the ever popular rogue-like genre. When developing the user interface, we wanted to give people the ability to quickly interact with their equipment, environment, items, and non-player characters, without breaking from the action. This system needed to be every bit as immersive as the story.

With hundreds of weapons and a plethora of menu placements, there was a lot of iconography involved in the interface. This forced me to establish various grids for each family of icons, depending on their scale and use case. For weapon icons, I used more typographic principles to build out simple shapes that introduced a visual language that could be replicated for each weapon variant. This allowed them to be scaled down easily, but it also opened the door for more iconography, in the case that more weapons might be added to the roster. For interface icons, I designed them to be chunkier as they would always be much smaller on the screen, often used for things like player controls and notifications.
